Young people often find it amusing to find what they have in common with young people from other countries, especially when the other group belongs to a different linguistic and religious group. This project uses youth’s curiosity as a platform to deal in a fun, youth-friendly, creative and innovative way with the concept of European Identity, which is, because of its complexity, often confusing to young people. Some of them are without a reason afraid that by accepting European Identity they will lose their own national identities. Unlike the American “Melting Pot”, European Identity has specific structure; each brick and piece of the structure is unique, has its’ own story and value but a common history, heritage, languages is what brings all these small pieces into one big, beautiful structure of what today represents Europe.
OBJECTIVES:
to explore the role of common within the wide concept of European Citizenship by placing it in a European context and discussing the idea of “Europe”
to raise awareness among young people about their own culture and what role stories and local legends have in shaping their lives. Furthermore, by exploring universal values in their own cultures to discover how much in common they have with members of other countries.
to develop solidarity and promote tolerance among young people, in particular in order to foster social cohesion in the European Union
to foster mutual understanding between young people in different countries and to highlight the intercultural and interreligious dialogue as an opportunity to contribute to a diverse and dynamic society in Europe
